Our home.

Filed under: Uncategorized — by hihosilver @ 7:38 pm

I spent all of today spring cleaning. The only think I didn't clean out was the fridge. I love it when I can sit, and relax knowing that there isn't anything left to clean. So that is exactly what I am doing. I am sitting in my tree room with all the candles lit, sitting on the couch listening to great music. I am trying to figure out what book I want to start reading. I have about 20 waiting for me, however I need to be in the mood.

ok. That is all. I know, Gary, this was boring. I am sorry. What if I went out with a "Lying Whore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", would that spruce it up for you?

relaxing..

This weekend was beautiful! Even though it rained today, well yesterday, it was wonderful. Breakfast with my family was fun! The first grandchild on the Reichert side of the family with be arriving in about 6 months (And since there is only one male to carry on the Reichert name, everyone is hoping for a boy), and a year from now, we will be witnessing the marriage of my cousin Jackie to Steve! Also the first grandchild on my mothers side will be arriving soon as well. Everyone is really excited! It is weird to sit there and see how much all of my cousins have grown up.

After breakfast we headed home to mimic a Alton Brown mac n' cheese recipe. Which actually turned out quite well. It was a great team effort on our part.

We then headed out to Eric's side for dinner. It was nice to see/visit with family. I missed Ang though, but I guess sick children come before me. ;O)

We headed home, where I engaged in eating more mac n' cheese as a late night snack. Can you say, vomit?

Now, as usual, I am listening to music, not tired, and blogging. I am pretty much up to date. I think tomorrow is going to be a relaxation station day.

sister and her ways

Filed under: Family — by hihosilver @ 11:01 pm

I love my sister dearly, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with everything she does. It just breaks my heart when she choses a rough path for herself, when she can clearly take the easy one. I just worry about her a lot.

Night by Elie Wiesel

Night.jpg

I just finished the above book this evening. How incredibly sad. It is basically the account on a man's journey in a concentration camp.

At least he had his father, I would think on the one hand. At least he wasn't alone. But on the other hand, if he were only alone, he would be better off. I can't imagine watching someone beat a member of my family. Or to have to watch someone I love slowly and painfully wither away. To see the death of so many people.

Eric asked me if I liked it. It seems almost sickening to say, yes this is a great book, when its contents are so dark.
I just don't know. I just don't have a lot to say on it, other than it's incredibly sad. I am glad that I read it, and would recommend it.

life in a closed shop

Filed under: daily banter, work — by hihosilver @ 2:46 pm

It is interesting working when no one is in here, quiet and boring. People come to the door and yank on the door knob, then go to the windows and peek in. That is about the time that I hide behind the counter. It's as if they've forgotten how to read. The sign will clearly say that we are closed, but they have to peek in to make sure. It's very odd.

If I went to a store and the sign said closed, I would walk away. I wouldn't peek in, or pull on the handle. Well most likely I would pull on the handle, and then look for the closed sign, which is probably, now that I think of it, what they do. But still, the peeking. OH, the peeking.

Then I get the phone call:

"Are you closed?"

"Yes we are."

"Why are you in there then?"

"I am shipping orders."

"Well…when are you going to be open again"

It's not like there isn't a sign right in front of your face!!

"Tomorrow."

"Are you sure? Because you sign said you would be open today and it isn't."

"Yes, I am pretty sure."

Sometimes I don't need the phone call. I can here the poor soul screaming and yelling about how the shop is only open 4 days as it is, and why on earth are they closed! I again, hide, since it is inevitable they will try and peek through the blinds.

I just thought I would share. In the past five minutes of writing, I have had 3 pullers, a caller, and  a peeker.

Anyone have suggestions on great female vocalists to add to my collection?

Let’s talk about my lunch!

Filed under: food — by hihosilver @ 11:48 am

It is delicious! Italian Tuna Melt. I cannot take the credit for this wonderful recipe though! Let's see, what's in it?

Tuna, artichokes, Celery, Arugula, Lemon Juice & Zest, GARLIC, onion, Provolone, tomatoes and English muffin! It taste pretty darn good. I didn't finsih it in time for Eric to have for lunch, but there is plenty for a snack later on today. YUM!

For those that subscribe to or have Rachael Ray's mag, the recipe is on page 59 of the April/May issue. Otherwise, I am sure she has the recipe on her website www.rachaelraymag.com

Weekend Highlights

Nothing really too exciting to report, as usual. I really don’t think I live a boring life, I just tend to omit a lot of things I don’t think will interest others. lol Which is probably a good thing.

Basically, I worked. That was the story of my life this past week. Eric, Dave, Steve, and I all went to Sardini’s for lunch. Met up with Todd, Barb & Jenny for dinner and drinks. Yes Gary…it does seem that all we do is eat! lol But I threw that in there for you! :o )

Sunday I spent time catching up on some unheard female vocalists. I found some great musicians…awesome voices and lyrics. I figured it was something to do…since I couldn’t sleep. Nothing like sitting there at 2AM listening to music!

Sorry Gary if this was boring. lol I will try and find something to humor you. Like the fact that you have Tourette. It’s ok, we all still love you…actually it’s probably the reason we love you.
